Packaging design

Misoso
Miso is still new to most Swiss kitchens, and the few local brands either look generic or borrow Asian clichés. This packaging design creates Misoso, a miso made from Swiss soy with Japanese craft. Each variety carries its own handmade mark that hints at its taste, for curious first-timers and miso lovers alike.

PROCESS

01 Research
Research into soy, miso and packaging, with Swiss and Japanese competitors compared by look, price and channel. The brand is set in western Switzerland, where much of the soy grows, so the labels speak French.

02 Concepts & Sketches
Three directions built on taste, origin and vegan values. The final design combines taste and origin.
03 Logo
The mark joins the playful letterforms of concept A with the stamp-like symbol of concept B.

04 Imagery
Ink and watercolour experiments on paper, scanned and reduced to the shapes used on the labels.

05 Jar
Glass signals quality in the premium segment. The square jar carries the label on flat sides, and its embossed “Great Taste” adds a small message of its own.
